A woman sent the internet into a frenzy after posting images of herself in LA on vacation. Many called her out after spotting a Zola Budd on the image.
In response to these events, MTN Rank Taxi Association (MRTA) released a statement to Rom Newz which debunked the mystery seen on the woman's Instagram post. Are Siyayas available in the US? was a question that popped up on many of the people who shared a screenshot of the Instagram post.
Bab'Mabhebhana (pictured) revealed that the MRTA has been working with the US transportation industry for over 8 years & the Toyota Hi-Ace 2200, affectionately known as "Siyaya" in South Africa was manufactured exclusively for the country but it was made available in nations, albeit in small quantities.
The LA taxi rank owns a fleet of about 25 Siyayas which are mostly used by South Africans living in LA. You can expect to hear some South African slang at the rank and stickers like "BRUSH YOUR TEETH BEFORE YOU COMPLAIN."
Would you ride these taxis in LA? Why?
