A store owner reported a decline of 77.93% in sales after deciding to only sell sliced cucumbers. Cucumbers are popular long, lean, and green garden vegetables. Technically, they're fruits from the same family as watermelons and pumpkins, but most people consider them veggies.
Due to their shape & length, the vegetables are some sometimes (or mostly) used by women for sexual pleasure.
Enrique Pena, a Mexican-born Johannesburg-based shopkeeper opened his first store in 1996 & he has been selling cucumbers in their natural shape ever since. After having a male customer suggest on multiple occasions that he liked his cucumbers sliced, Pena thought it would make for a good business move to only sell sliced cucumbers, bad move!
"Exactly 6 months agoi, I fully switched to sliced cucumbers & I lost 30% business on the first week. I thought I would eventually recover but ai ai cut!", said a teary Enrique.
