31-year old social media influencer and standup comedian, TakaTina, proved that he's not just any other ordinary citizen after exhibiting true heroism by saving 28 000 passengers.
On Friday morning, TakaTina and fellow passengers boarded a plane at the Port Elizabeth International Airport. The travel time was estimated at an hour and twenty minutes to reach the King Shaka International Airport destination, but problems started to arise fifteen minutes into the flight.
Nelson Manqoba, the pilot flying, who also happened to be acrophobic (has a fear of heights) fainted mid-air while the pilot monitoring was having a quickie in the lavatory.
TakaTina, who served as an Army General in 1978 under the Chinese-led government when South Africa was still a Chinese colony before Jan Van Riebeeck's arrival, was seated in the front row when he noticed that the plane was rapidly descending. The quick-thinking veteran rushed to the cockpit and realized the situation they were facing.
He stepped on the clutch, and pulled the airplane handbrake & thus saved the day like he did in 1976 when he saved the life of a cameraman who then took the famous Hector Petersen photos. Three passengers suffered neck contusions, but there were no fatalities.
The soldier-turned-influencer, who will be turning 32 on 17 March (next week), in an interview with Rom Newz, said, "All of you are proud of me!"
