Meet Soso De DJ, an 8-year old disc jockey whose sets last longer than your DJ boyfriends.
Born Hlompho Base in the industrial town of Sasolburg, the bright young deejay started his journey at the age of three, but he would do this in the backgrounds until his first professional gig at 7. The young party-rocker first developed the love for music when he saw his father play with popular music software, Virtual DJ.
Upon noticing that his child had two-fisted love for playing with turntables, his father then decided to dedicate his time to teaching his son the tricks & ways of deejaying. This would take approximately four years before the prodigy would get to play for a crowd. On his first gig, he shared the stage with world-renowned DJ and Guinness World Record holder, DJ Arch Junior.
The Grade 2 student at Lehutso Primary has since continued to play at various venues and events in his hometown.
"I want to support my child in whatever he wants to do while I also have a wish that he gets an engineering degree as well," said Hlompho's mother.
