Thabang Dumitru was caught in possession of stolen teddy bears by a shopkeeper.
The Polokwane native was apprehended after the store owner received a tip-off from Dumitru's girlfriend. Muhammad My Friend was hijacked at gunpoint while transporting the fluffy toys to his Polokwane store by two men.
They ordered him to give them his keys to the canopy, tied him up and then forced the Pakistani native to sing the Afrikaans part of the South African national anthem. The duo then proceeded to search his vehicle for valuables and cash.
"My brothers had been complaining about not having enough money to buy their girlfriends a gift on Valentine's day. I recruited a friend to help me in solving this problem."
Dumitru's ex-girlfriend has been nicknamed "Six9ine" by residents after her brave act of alerting the police.
