A father returned home with a bottle of fresh milk dated February 25, 2001, after vanishing for nineteen years.
James Phiri, the father in question, disappeared immediately after the birth of his daughter. He had told his then-girlfriend, Melinda Mogapi, the mother of his only child, that he was going to get milk for their newborn. He never specified the store he was headed to, or the time he would be back.
Mogapi waited for hours while their daughter cried hopelessly. Melinda was worried because Phiri had never vanished without notifying her of his whereabouts.
It soon became clear to Melinda that Phiri was a deadbeat and she worked several jobs while raising their daughter.
"I told her I was going to get milk, but like Sosnega from Terminator, I told her that I would be back. I came back. So, she should be happy that I eventually returned," said Phiri.
Phiri couldn't explain the milk date, and its good state, however, people suspected that he used a machine from his job where he works as a milk packager.
