A South African businessman made headlines after making an offer of R46m to any man willing to sell his balls.
Cosgold Mines Inc. - one of the largest miners of gold in Africa made 30 18K-gold golf-sized balls in 1995 and they were stolen in transit to a museum. Martinus Grobler, the CEO of the corporation in the 90s, set up bounty offers to anyone with information that could lead to possible recovery to no avail.
Grobler said, "We received thousands of leads from people claiming to have information about the location of the balls. We followed all leads but we couldn't find the culprits."
Prometheus Mathebula, the current CEO of the company, has reopened the case and he expressed his hopes of eventually recovering some of the balls. The new bounty has been set at $3.1m, equivalent to 46m in South African Rands.
People who bring their balls in won't be prosecuted and their identities will remain confidential.
