As tweep, @MTshwete, predicted earlier this week, local salons have already started rolling out the addition of Zozibini's face on their hairstyle charts.
Zozibini Tunzi was crowned Miss South Africa on the 9th of August at Sun Arena at Time Square in Pretoria and she then went on to win the USA-founded Miss Universe on the ninth of December 2019. She had faced criticism for choosing to keep her natural hair instead of wearing wigs or weaves as it is popular in her country. She then faced the same difficulty at the Miss Universe pageant as people continued encouraging her to do what she disliked, wear a wig! But Tunzi, who has worn her hair natural for three years, did not want to change herself for the pageant. She said she wanted to show that "beauty does not look one certain way." "It extends to more than just hair," she added. "It's about accepting yourself for who you are and how different you are. I hope it just inspires women to be themselves, their authentic selves."As we speak salons across South Africa are adding Zozi's picture right next to Ludacris— Mayi (@MTshwete) December 9, 2019
Upon her crowning in the US, South African hair salons wasted no time in adding her face to the list of hairstyles available. The hairdo has been dubbed "Hairstyle of Success" by South Africans as Siya Kolisi, Springboks captain and 2019 Rugby World Cup winner has a similar style.
Here's the picture you will soon see at your local salon.
