After 4 years without luck the Telkom silverware, The Brazilians have successfully beaten the Team of Choice to take home the 2019 Telkom Knockout trophy. This is Pitso Mosimane's ninth piece of silverware for the club during his tenure.

The match climax began with Denis Onyango & Mosa Lebusa colliding in the 2nd minute, affording Daylon Claasen an opportunity to score, which he missed. Judas Moseamedi then went on to score a goal just a mere 5 minutes before halftime, giving Maritzburg a lead.

Things quickly turned sour for Maritzburg United when Uruguayan Mauricio Affonso netted an equalizer on the 54th minute. He was also the man who put a nail on Maritzburg's coffin when he scored a brace on the 74th minute.
